Fernanda Trías was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. She published Cuaderno para un solo ojo, La azotea, La ciudad invencible, No soñarás flores, Mugre rosa and El monte de las furias. For Mugre rosa he received the National Literature Award (2020), the Bartolomé Hidalgo Award (2021) and the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Award (2021). In 2024, Mugre rosa was nominated for the National Book Awards in the United States. She won two British PEN Translates Awards (2020 and 2022) for Mugre rosa and La azotea. She was a fellow of Casa de Velázquez, Yaddo and Willapa Bay AiR. She lives in Colombia, where she teaches creative writing.
