Celia Herrera Rodríguez

(Xicana, b. 1952) is a two-spirit artist known for her work in visual arts, installation and performance. Her work dialogues with Mesoamerican and indigenous thought, and has been exhibited in America and Europe. She has collaborated closely with Cherríe Moraga in various productions and publications. Co-founder of Centro Las Maestras, she is a professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Nearing retirement, she has returned to Sacramento to focus on her art and spiritual praxis, Teo(tl)ria Xicana. Her recent work has been presented in prominent museums in California, Arizona, Florida and Colorado.
